Good morning good morning good morning all God’s children. . .

Welcome to Adventures in Odyssey! I’m lovin’ it! Just do it! It just tastes better! Always low prices! Think outside the bun!

Anyway, enough foolishness. This is thesinger signing in to report on my life as it now stands, or sits, as the case may be.

The wedding music came together excellently for the most part. It was delightful to sing at a wedding where you knew that the groom was totally enthused about high quality choral music. (Oh, but he also liked some sappy love songs too =( ) For the information of those not present, we sang a lot of music. Namely, we sang three songs in the prelude, one processional, one song before the vows, one recessional, and seven songs in the postlude. Yes, it seemed like a full blown concert. Ach vell, it was fun, so? why not?

At work right now, we are going through an intense time of preparation for our annual fall Seed Sales Kick-off Meeting which will take place this next Tues. evening, Lord willing. The evening itself is a fun time of eating good food, lots of car parking, balloons, speakers, etc., but the clean-up work that must take place is boring at its best; painful at its worst. Life will go on.

Thanks to the ones who participated in the opinion poll. The results are very helpful, but I’m not sure how. Thanks.

It’s with much anticipation of an exciting week that I sign off.

Allow me to remain,

Faithfully yours,

thesinger

Rest for My Voice

Posted by thesinger on February 21, 2008

Today was the first day in six days when I didn’t have a rehearsal or a concert.
Yesterday I sang at the funeral and graveside.
Tuesday, I attended a Kansas Youth Chorus rehearsal.
Monday, I attended a Reno Choral Society rehearsal where we rehearsed Messiah, by Handel.
Sunday, I sang at my brother’s “second wedding” to use Loyal’s terms.
Saturday, the A.S. practiced the music for my brother’s “second wedding”. (This is when the A.S. found out he was engaged, btw.)
Friday, a random quartet consisting of Shane, Karen, Rosene, and myself, sang at the Youth Valentines Banquet.

My singing schedule is rarely as intense as it was this week–for this I am very grateful–but when it does happen, I joyfully step onto the stage and sing my heart away!!!!!! Vocal rest, though, is something I do appreciate when it occurs.

I am planning to attend a Bible Study at Gary Millers tonight and will have to finish this post speedily to achieve physical cleanliness and still get to the Study on time.

Later,

Concerts

Posted by thesinger on November 29, 2007

Yup, thesinger is gearing up to help perform 4 concerts in the next week. Two of them will be the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols and two of them will be with the Anonymous Somebodies. I am excited, yet the thought tires me. “With enough faith I can do anything” was and will be my motto for the next week. I need God’s strength and good health to be able to survive and enjoy the pressures of 4 concerts. 🙂

On the bright side of things, the Nine Lessons concert will be tops in terms of tone, sheer volume, and sound quality. It is a concert that you will not want to miss if possible. (Hutchinson, KS at the intersection of Poplar and Fifth. 8:00 PM on Friday, Nov. 29; 3:00 PM on Sunday, Dec. 2.)

The Anonymous Somebodies Concert that will be open to the public will be on Wed., Dec. 5 at Center Amish Church at 7:45 PM. Pray that it will be an energizing and worshipful experience. One big fear I have as a public performer/worship leader is that I will fail to communicate the message of Jesus. What tends to happen to me is that I am so concerned about perfection in music that “I” tend to be the message that is communicated. Pray that God would work in our hearts so that we would only be vessels, and not pretend to be the goodies inside the vessel.

Time to post?

Posted by thesinger on October 11, 2007

Nope. Why would anyone in the world think that I have time to post. Retreat, School, Family obligations, Anonymous Somebodies, Laymen’s Men’s Chorus, working for Dad, etc., etc.

Busyness.

Posted by thesinger on September 24, 2007

I think the title sums it up well. Perhaps I will just give you a rundown of the week ahead.

Monday. It’s almost past, but nevertheless, we had a Anonymous Somebodies rehearsal tonight. (It was swell, as usual.)
Tuesday. Youth event. I had to plan it, and will have to be in charge of it. Pain. I hope it can be a good experience anyway.
Wednesday. Church. Should be moderately boring, but will have to attend anyway. Heard a rumor of a party afterwards, (ahem!!!!) and think that it should DEFINITELY happen. Enough said.
Thursday. Guys only volleyball. Because the girls will be at a Prayer Partners Banquet. That should be a BLAST!!!!!!!!!! I also will hang out with Mr. Stutzman earlier in the evening before I attend the volleyball. Busy busy busy.
Friday. Work all day. In evening leave for a wedding in Arkansas. Drive half the night.
Saturday. Attend wedding. Play Volleyball if tradition holds. . .
Sunday. Go to church. Leave for Kansas. Get not enough sleep.
Monday. Go to work. Feel like a cat that’s been put through ringer washer.

you get the idea

Later: Crystal actually did host a party at her house last night. I am SO thankful that she took this upon herself and followed through marvelously. It certainly was one of the better things that happened to me yesterday. Hey, I even got to sing some cool music that Crystal and Jewel had sitting around. WHAT A DEAL!!!!!!!!!
